Margaret: There is a great collection of Exbury and Knap Hill hybrids
at Kew Gardens. During late 19th century a nurseryman in England tried
to improve the Ghent hybrids. the resulting azaleas were at the Knap
Hill nursery. Years later Lionel de Rothschild of Exbury bred several
Knap Hill and bred the Exbury hybrids. The Ilam hybrids came from New
Zealand. the latest group are the Windsor hybrids. I do not know if any
of these are over in North America. Kathleen is my favorite Exbury.
Homebush, which my wife likes is a Knap Hill azalea.
Nice weather here. Clemmies are doing well. All the alpines out.
