If you were using pipe very much I would suggest buying some shears that are made specially for cutting PVC pipe. You wouldn't believe how sharp they are! We found ours at Lowes. Hacksaws do work just as well and yes there are different strengths of PVC pipe. Some are much more heavy duty than others. Ranchmama Okie zone 7a
