I have some hakone grass, but it's new this year...still settling into
place.  It hasn't shown much of a presence yet even though it is growing
nicely.  A Zone five gardener in northern Pennsylvania says that it
overwinters reliably in her garden.  She gets snow cover most of the winter;
my part of Southern Indiana is subject to brown winters.  Given her
experience, I expect mulch with good drainage will help it survive in my
area. :)
