I can suggest the best New Mexico but, sorry, not a one is from Santa Fe. Lynn Nusom whose books are available through Amazon.com writes fine cookbooks. (New Mexico, Christmas in New Mexico, Cooking in the Land of Enchantment, Sizzling Southwestern Cookbook, and two on Tequila. Then there's Carolyn Dille& Susan Belsinger, Classic Southwest Cooking, an old one I think is still in print: Ronald Johnson, The Aficionados Southwestern Cooking. Faye Lutz, Cooking Northern NM Traditional Foods. Any of Diane Kennedy's books on Mexican cooking are fine. When Sunset Magazine was owned by Lane's, they issued several cookbooks of southwestern food and on Mexican Cook Book. The magazine is now dreadful as are the cookbooks--they must say Lane on the cover to be reliable. None of this is the phony "Santa Fe" newcomers cooking--none of whom know a single thing about New Mexico or our cooking or customs. Any one who puts olives into southwestern food is highly suspect, and Dave D. Witt thinks that's just perfect. We never bought his magazine either BTW.
