I just finished reading a book called "One River" by Wade Davis which is all about the travels of a few ethnobotanists in the Amazon exploring for plants. Although the story is mostly concerned with Rubber and Coca plants, I was watching for references to chile peppers as I read. Mostly it only came up in mention of some hot Chile sauces used by the Indians. The only interesting reference to hot peppers was this: "Two species of hot peppers were used by a shaman's wife to bring him down from a hallucinogenic intoxication." Even though it didn't have much about peppers, it's a very good book, worth reading. scott --- Scott Wood mailto:swood@mercury.bc.ca Mercury Scheduling, Vancouver
