Hey, Doug, 

For what it's worth, I think that you did exactly the right thing and
there's no need to be embarrassed at all.  If someone misunderstood who it
was directed at, it was speedily cleared up.  Thanks for championing the
list.  Even well-intentioned ads are not welcome and for good reasons.
