If, in fact, industry could set standards for its products, we'd still
need government for Oversight - its original and best purpose.
Take away govt. completely - and I'd certainly like to take away 2/3rds
of it (or more) - and industry would run roughshod over the buying
public, who has increasing less and less choice (what with mergers,
consolidations, and the like).
Small govt. is good govt. - but no govt. would be a disaster.
