Hi all, Lately I have noticed quite a few "slow-cooker" recipes on the internet. For those of us who don't own (or want) a slow cooker, here is a viable alternative which will work just fine for all those recipes. Make the recipe in a cast iron or heavy aluminum (such as Club Aluminum) Dutch oven. Place in a 200 degree oven, covered, for slow cook and a 250 degree oven for slow cook. Do not remove the lid. Leave in the oven for the time specified in the recipe. I often make stews, pot roasts and chili by this method and it works just fine.
