Thanks to all the kind answers to my request for info about habanero flakes and to Doug for his answer...Surprised I didn't hear from Rael. For the very first time today I found HOT food at the local Hy Vee store here in our little town of 4000. Another lady and I just stood and looked and drooled. I managed to keep it down to 3 purchases. I got Herdez salsa verde in 7 oz can. Herdez Salsa Casera 'Hot' 12 oz jar (says it is Mexico's favorite) San Marcos Chilpotle Peppers in adobo sauce 7 oz can Does anyone have any comments on my selection? I have been saving recipes so will start trying them all out this week end. Earlier this winter I bought Bilardo Brothers Tangy Tomatillo Salsa. Hot. Haven't opened it-had been saving it for Super Bowl and I was down with my back so didn't do much except open nacho cheese sauce and open a bag of chips and slice up some jalapenos I pickled last fall. Didn't even feel like eating. We suspect the interest in the Mexican food comes from the fact that our new Hormel plant is importing a labor force. I had complained for 5 years about not having good Mexican food and that didn't seem to help. Glad something did. Now if I can lay my hands on some bottles of good sauces. Joanne in dry Iowa-no rain here....
