I think this thread was on our list last year. Thought you might get a kick out of another take on it From: Connie Shelton <publish@afweb.com> Reply-To: Mystery Literature E-conference <DOROTHYL@LISTSERV.KENT.EDU> To: DOROTHYL@LISTSERV.KENT.EDU Hi, I've been scanning through the list each day, but so busy that I haven't taken time to read in depth or post in a long time. Hope things slow down a little so I can get involved again. I don't know if this qualifies as a regionalism or not, but did you know that New Mexico has an Official State Question? The question is: "Red or green?" (I'm not kidding, this was voted on by our legislature a couple of years ago.) The question refers to which kind of chile you want on your food--red chile or green chile. Since I've traveled many places where, if you ask for green chile they'll look at you like you just ordered little green men, I have to assume this question is fairly unique to NM. If you can't decide whether you'd rather have red or green, you can have both, half and half. But those in the know don't order it that way, they just say "Christmas." -- And now you know the "rest of the story." -- _____________ Constance Allen San Jose, California mailto:callen@sirius.com _____________
