'Tis truly groovy work being done...FFF pics LIVE on da Web, no? And it
brought tears...sniff, sniff...yes, real tears to my eyes to see a Twister
Game in front of the FireGirl booth...

Dammit, I'm gonna make the FFF next year and ole Rael will be challenging
passersby to a game or two....like that one "human" lady <g>...

BTW, cool hat, brother Jim C. Do I get one like that to wear if I stop by
yer hacienda to pick chiles?

And quite irrelevant to the above but interesting, I hope...

At work, Da Chef is slowly coming around to my way of thinking. I've been
making some salsas and such for specials, which we run nightly, and he's
been pretty accepting of "chiles with fish", at least. Anywho, he had some
poblanos which he "roasted" (burnt 50+percent of them up...oops!) which I
took and mixed into some onions I had caramelized, added some cilantro
(towards the end), some lime juice, some bell pepper (prob. a bad idea
there...in general, they just seem to give stuff a bitter taste, alas..),
and then took some dried figs, chopped 'em up fairly small, put 'em in
water, brought it to a boil, simmered for quite a while adding a bit more
water when needed to keep a bit of liquid in the pan, and essentially made
a figgie goo with some nice soft figgie pieces in it as well; added a bit
of sugar to boost the sweetness. Then added it into the salsa. Not damn
bad. Needs much work, IMO, but I found it interesting that figs and chiles
were fairly complementary. Others may wanna play with this combination,
'specially you folks in California. Ain't y'all the fig capital of the US?

Also...made a pineapple-tomato salsa with no chiles in it (obviously, that
was not MY idea..), but it was a good melding of flavors. Essentially,
pineapple, tomato, parsley, a bit of cilantro, and, uh...darn..can't
remember if I had some finely chopped onion in there or not. Probably not.
This was a really basic salsa, if I can call it that, for a chicken dish.
Anywho, figure chiles could be added into it and it should be oh-so-mo'-good.

Got some dried blueberries I wanna play with next....yum..

Nuff...

Peace...
