M. Bailes please take the time to read this 1. obviously the "Chile press Ladies ? " Who were present at the Fragrant Garden took Offense at being asked if they would like to play Twister ,otherwise they would not have made certain comments to the Freelance writer ,(who is writing an article for AUST Good Taste Magazine and a supplement for the Australian newspaper !),about interviewing me while I was down there .But then again they may have been miffed at not been asked to Autograph my Tabasco T shirt !. I may have been mistaken but I thought that we were all working for EL GRANDE, Next 8 lines of text edited to protect me from a possible Attack of stress .Anyway had already got his wife/photographer to take a picture of a Molajette that Jose Cisneros Sent me complete with Multi coloured Chiles , And showed him the correct way to eat a Habanero ,Which he did not take notice of and when i phoned him with a few web addresses today for to put in his article he mentioned that he had come down with a case of hunan hand/lip/face/eye .----nouf said 2.The Fragrant Garden Chile Festival . I left friday afternoon and Arrived about 11pm ,to late to book into a cheep motel (saving my pesos for October trip to USA) parked and climbed into the back of the small work Pickup ,bout 11.30 another car pulled up ,wow I thought its another Chile-Head and said to self ,ha ha i'm the first ,problem was these people were here to have coitus interuptis , which it duly was about 10 minutes later by a guy with a pickup/ute who did a donut which showered their car with stones .5 minutes after he left they turned on the interior light and continued their amorous activities ,only problem for me was the binoculars were in the cab and if i got them out to look see the damm cab light would have come on ,.. 7.00am went down and introduced my-self to Jeff the Chef who is a great guy offered me a cup of Java -duly accepted and let me wander about the place .In the hour that i spent before Michael arrived I spent a most wonderful time walking around . (introductions were made and appologies for posts unanswered) 9.00 am the gates opened -wow great turnout on day one . Seconded myself as a helper ,helped a couple of stall holders set up . Peter rodger -aka slothman CH from Qld and wife showed up .Introductions were made and much slapping on backs . Taste -testings of Calvins Powder /Jims Flakes/Lorraines combustiom sauce , all were given the approval .. Michael gave us a big table as we were expecting more Sydney CH . ..helped Victor Psiapia-RATTLE SNAKE GRILL set up his stall and tasted one of his chocolate -chile things FWOABW-for want of a better word . AUD 2.50 -Belgian chocolate mixed with chile powder -***** 5 star rating mine was o.k. but peter rodger had 2 and the second one had Heat ! Met James Meshgin an Iranian of Bahi faith who was raised in Louisiana -American Food and spice ,Imports -wonderful collection of sauces ,unfortunatly he mainly does wholesale -Of interest to Jose Ciseneros ,this man has cans of CORN SMUT ? -fungus that grows on Corn -canned in Mexico and by his comment rare in the US .another great show was had by Glen Bacon the Chef de cuisine from the Crown Plaza -Holiday Inn , Salsa with Blue Corn Chips -aint seen them in Oz before ! Back to the fragrant Garden - MB had 210 + A COUPLE OF OTHER VARIETIES of chiles for sale ,Is this the largest selection in a nursery in the World ??? - me i'm about the colour of the jolly Green Giant . Michaels Staff would have to be the greatest bunch of people on gods planet ,all were smiling , happy , Knowledgeable and dedicated . This place is Heaven on Earth for Aussie and other Chile heads !!!!!! JBC - Cattely arrived tasted and enjoyed ,fraid we let him wander around on his own for a while , sorry JbC . Waited for more CH to arrive and were sadly dissapointed . Booze ! tasted a Chile Beer and some TQ hot Tequilla -often ! harrased by feral geese who seem to have taken it upon themselves to do a garbage run about 5 pm , Got the Tabasco T shirt Signed by Bailes ,Cattley, Rodger, Victor .Tasted Jeff the Chef's Orange Habs with Ice cream - Yes Yes Yes this is a great way to serve Hot/Cold . Gave some Boxed Gusto Garlic to a lady who MB assured me would pay me back generously ,unfortunatley her Husband was there . during the afternoon .bout 6.pm started with bailes'y on Vin Rouge then vin blanc then chile Vodka afore adjouning to his library -(For Want of a Word F****** WOW) this man has tens of Thousands of books ,My daughter could spend years there !! much More Wine followed - from the cellar ( again Wow) I could Spend time there . Post to the list, SORRY All -Alcohol InDuced . Bed 1.00 am--ish 7.00 am Sunday it was roll up the sleves and help out ,Breakfast of Bacon and eggs with some Spontanious Combustion Sauce from Lorraine And Kay ,Again helped with the food part ,VICTOR from the RattleSNAKE Grill was Excellent ,Propaned his Chiles for the Salsa ,I helped in a small way to keep the BBQ's running and general clean up , left at 3 pm and drove the 7 hours back home 532+ kilometeres . Lots of people MB should post the numbers shortly and he should add the 20 per hour that didn't pay admission of a Token 2 bucks ! who snuck in the back gate . Rent a 3 Rotties Next YR . once Again I thank the Staff at MB's FG for their dedication .
