Sometimes I am on automatic pilot so much I don't think about passing on what to me is "old-hat". Here is another idea for gardeners. A friend went shopping with me Saturday and on the way home I made 3 of my regular stops at local cafés that save coffee grounds for me. I take in an empty five gallon container and pick up the full ones. for those who are just starting in composting, coffee grounds are wonderful to add to your compost or even directly into the garden (also tea leaves). I have found that a gift of garden produce for the private use of the manager or owner helps to convince them that this can be a good deal for them too. I have probably incorporated close to half a ton of coffee grounds into my garden in the past six years since I started this. This is the desert but the soil in my garden is dark and rich and will grow just about anything. And best of all this stuff is virtually FREE. -- Andie Paysinger & the PENDRAGON Basenjis,Teafer,Cheesy,Singer & Player asenji@earthlink.net So. Calif.
