Hi Walt! Read with interest your posting about using habs to treat poison ivy/oak rash. A "home" remedy that also works well is to gather up some manzanita leaves and boil them in water to cover plus a little until you have a dark green "tea". Cool this and apply it to the rash with a cotton ball. (DO NOT - as a friend of mine did, soak a bandage in the stuff and tape it to the rash area!) Leave the rash areas exposed to air as much as posible. My experience with this is that it dries up the rash in a day or so and it cuts itching dramatically. I don't know if manzanita grows in Virginia. It grows wild all over the Sierra foothills here in California. If you have trouble finding it wild you could try an herb store. Peace, love and peppers Lorraine
