I do stake my plants as with time they get a bit leggy, however, I have
also followed some (excellent) advise from the list about cutting back in
the fall to produce a bushier plant that has worked just fine!

The only one haven't done this to are the serranos which now form a sort
of pepper tree - relatively naked stem about 4 feet tall with a burst of
branches at the top. They look sort of neat - like a rose tree only
better - so I leave these be and support them with those slender green
bamboo stakes you can buy at garden shops. I use strips of old nylon
pantyhose to tie them - they can be cut wide enough so as not to damage
the tender branches and its another way to recycle!

Peace, love and peppers
