I am the one who has a deal with a couple of local cafés to save grounds for me. They also are now saving potato peelings (which are finely grated as they use one of the drum type "peelers") They just started doing their french fries and hash browns from real (fresh) potatoes. Since I take them fresh produce for their personal use (not for restaurant fare) they are thrilled to have me haul the stuff out. It makes my compost great and we both benefit. I got a big garbage bag of lettuce tonight on my way home and it too is going into the compost. Depending on the size of your plant container you can add coffee grounds right into the surface soil. I dump a cupfull in my 5 gallon containers -- Andie Paysinger & the PENDRAGON Basenjis,Teafer,Cheesy,Singer & Player asenji@earthlink.net So. Calif.
