Rael sayeth, > He finally >understood my redneck twang and brought forth a big bowl of dark red salsa, >thin and runny, but pretty damned hot and full of cilantro. This sounds similar to the salsa picante they serve at a little Mexican place by my work in Santa Maria called Taco de Mexico. I use whatever excuse I can to eat lunch there. It's walk up service, you can see them preparing your food because the cash register is practically in the kitchen and the food is incredible! . To-go means they put foil over your paper plate. They serve tacos, burritos, and enchiladas and have a list of fillings, everything from pollo to cabeza (haven't worked up the nerve for cabeza). Their carne asada is heaven on a tortilla. My usual order is a taco de pollo, taco de carne asada, and a burrito de carnitas muy picante, por favor. The tacos consist of two pancake sized corn tortilla heated on the grill, a spoonful of the meat filling, a healthy dollop of the salsa picante all topped with fresh onions and cilantro. Oh geez, it's 7:30AM, I wonder if they're open yet.........
