I just munched my way through half a jar (16 oz jar. 7 1/2 oz, dry weight-these are honest folks) of Chileno peppers from Swab Farms in Lone Pine. "American Indian Style" These are a flavorful -spicy but not tremendously hot pepper grown in the Owens Valley since the gold rush days. The peppers got to the area via Chilean Miners in 1849. This is a very small scale operation and they are only marketed in a few rather local areas. A produce/meat market I favor here in Lancaster has them occasionally, till the supply runs out. Swab Farms do mail order if anyone wants their number, e-mail me privately. -- Andie Paysinger & the PENDRAGON Basenjis,Teafer,Cheesy,Singer & Player asenji@earthlink.net So. Calif.
