It kind of depends upon where you are in Colorado. Living in Loveland (or the front range in general) the soil has a very high clay content so you need to mix a lot of peat to get the drainage right. In the mountains, however, I believe the soil has a fairly high sand content so it needs to be treated differently. Then again, if you live down near the San Luis Valley most of your soil problems were solved by god and nature so just sit back and enjoy!
