"Paprika" in Hungarian means any member of the Capsicum family. Some are eaten raw, some cooked, and some are dried and sold as powder. The powder can be sweet, mild or (very) hot, depending on the variety used. All the varieties are called "paprika", with a qualifier desciribing the variety, e.g. "cseresznye paprika" denotes the cherry-sized kind often used to impart heat to goulash and other stews. Hope this helps. Ann Bucsics
