Dear Chile-Heads, Have any of you ever tried to make salsa from green tomatoes? (I'm referring to unripe tomatoes, not tomatillos.) In anticipation of a frost tonight, I picked whatever tomatoes were still on the vine, which were quite plentiful, and quite green. yes I have made plenty of green tomatoe salsa, when my mom and I make salsa every summer we always through in green tomatoes to get a good firm texture to the salsa giving it some meat to chew on instead of just squish. you will find the flavor is similar but not quite the same. and in yours you might try and through in some ripe tomatoes. you can also let some of you green tomatoes sit on a window sill and ripen if you do, don't take off the stims. well I hope that you have the chile gods above smile upon your blessed creation.
