>Hey folks, >This was in the food section of the Los Angeles Times a few weeks ago >and have been meaning to post it. This article falls into the "I could >have told you that!" category. >Personally, I believe that birds eat peppers cause they can. Plain and >simple. Enjoy! > >"All wild chile plants bear ferociously hot pods which stick up above >the leaves so birds can see them. Most of the Chillies I grow have pods below the leaves. Michael Bailes. Herbalist but folks remember that the bird statement is true and by the words of the chile gods themselves dewit and bosland the, original pepper plants had peppers sticking straight up like don kings hair and lived under trees were the birds perched so that they would spread there seeds around., birds are totally immune to the firery whip ass kick of the hot pepper. it is only when man started growing them and interfering with there wild nature that the peppers started dropping like humble domestic plants do. in both books that I have read that the gods have written and I have read it states this in the first parts of the book. I enjoyed reading the books very much and would recommend then to anyone that has not. regards mark in corvallis
