Byron Bromley asked: "Has anyone fermented beer and grown plants in the same room ??" Yes, sort of, in a big way! I visited Archer Daniels Midland at Decatur, IL in the early 80's. They had an industrial alcohol fermentation unit (not exactly beer) in their corn wet milling plant. Since they were shipping railroad cars of ethanol, there was also a lot of carbon dioxide available. They served us lunch which included a salad whose ingredients were grown in greenhouses with the atmosphere boosted with this carbon dioxide. They sold the greenhouse vegetables commercially. I do not recall whether there were chiles grown in these greenhouses, but I think one of the dishes served did have some red chile seasoning. George Nelson 70431.3065@compuserve.com
