>It is by David Allan Coe, a good ol' redneck. The title might be "You >Don't Have to Call Me (Darlin')" or it might be "The perfect Country >Song". I know when Mr. Coe is singing it, he discusses how it came >about and calls it the perfect country song.

This is called "The Perfect Country/Western Song". It was written by
D.A. Coe and also has Charlie Pride, Merle Haggard, and Waylon Jennings
singing in the song.
They play this every hour or so at Lone Star Steakhouse ( where I heard
it for the first time)and the employees and sometimes the patrons get up
and sing loudly, the verse in question.
It was there, eating Bacon Stuffed Jalapenos (on topic) and drinking
Cuervo 1800, that I learned of this tune. Not being a C/W fan, i was
surprised when more than one person asked me who did this song.
Guess I "look" like a country/western fan. I had brought in my own
bottle of hot sauce (Sontava!) to add to the Jalapenos but noone thought
i looked like a chile-head. I must try harder I suppose.

Edsel Ford.
