Friends, Neighbors, etc. Great idea from a friend today -- Jalapeno Cheese bread in the food-processor. I haven't followed the thread for the habenero bread that closely, since all my family doesn't share the desire for the burn like a couple of us. Tried a batch this evening and love it. Simple recipie: One bread mix (I used a Dakota Maid brand mix, made here in ND) 2 large jalapeno peppers, stems and seeds removed 1/3 cup shredded cheese Mix the water, shortening, and bread mix in the food-processor (using the choppper "S" blade) until just moist, add the peppers and cheese and mix till the peppers are chopped. Turn onto a floured board and knead. Let rise until double, make out the loaf and let rise until double again. Bake in at 350 degrees F for 40 minutes until golden brown. (We don't use a pan for our speciality loaves, just make a large ball and bake that way, the way bread was baked for centuries before pans) Great toasted with jalapeno or habanero jelly. Not real hot, but liked by all at our house. (My mon-in-law probably won't like it. When our 14 year old son recieved Grand Champion on his pepper plants at the county 4-H fair she said, "On those horrible things?"). We still love her though :-) Nels in ND
