>> 1) Which is your hottest pepper? The Red Habanero or the Red Carribbean >> Hab? > > The hottest pepper is usually the one that gets the most hype. At >the present time that's the Red Savina Habanero from GNS in >California. Red Savina is listed in the Guinness book at about >500,000 Scoville units which is about twice the heat of an Orange >Habanero. Yes this question is beginng to get on My goat >> 2) Which are your rare peppers? > > Rarity kind of depends on what part of the world you are in and >what's available there. I define rare as something that isn't >usually available in US or Canadian seed catalogs. Off the top of my >head, that would include Caribbean Red Hot Pepper, Cascabel, Chimayo, >Espanola Improved, Guajillo, Jamaican Scotch Bonnet, Mirasol, >Pasilla, Piquin, Peter Pepper, Safi Red from West Africa, Tepin and >West Indian Red Pepper. > > Michael Bailes grows many peppers in Australia and some of these may >not be rare there. Scotch Bonnet plants seeM OK but seed of the others is rare. Very few OZZIes seeM to know about Tepins yet. Pitty, they grow so well and are very cold tolerant. (Thanks) They look great, huge 1M high, dark green big leaves no fruit yet. (PS I got a letter fro RED Savana's legal-beagle asking Me not to sell Red Savina. I asked hiM for the analysis of Savina and how he can Make aliving fro not selling soMething) I tried to get Uni of Coffs Harbour (Southern Cross ) to do analaysis of soMe Chillies for Me last year but the blew it . I May try again this year if I can find $500 What is Safi Red? PS Any Mac owners out there with a bug that takes all your lower case "M"s and Makes your Mouse pointer go wonky? Michael Bailes.
