As for DC restaurants, yes, the Ethiopians are good, with wonderful combinations of spices - just don't expect any flatware. A spoon could go far in that land. Bardo Rodeo is an excellent microbrewery, but in a really strange industrial building painted black on the inside. The roof was leaking when I was there in March '98. Someone told me it used to be a car dealership. There was a 1960s car stuck as if it had been driven through the front window. Go figure. And ladybugs: Does anyone know what it is about their life cycle that makes them swarm in the fall? It seemed at one time that they were everywhere. Maybe it would not be too difficult to find or encourage some egg-laying, and have the next year's beneficial insects ready and waiting.
