" A Remington 1100 loaded with 3 fresh 2 oz slugs" Hi Paul..... I really think I'd prefer some buckshot to a deer slug. I'm not a great shot, and anyway shotguns are designed to be "pointed" rather than aimed like a rifle. In 12ga. , there are nine OO-buckshot, each one .36 caliber. Much better chance of a kill. Even #1 buckshot is .30 cal. ,don't remember how many in each shell, but more than OO shells. These will lose velocity faster than a slug, and since you're shooting downward they should be safer to use. Good luck.... P.S. I think those slugs are only about 1oz. or so Have a good day...Jim LeClere
