Your vet is full of crap then. You'd better look into getting another vet if you really care for your animals. D-Con active ingredient is warfarin, a well know blood thinner. Warfarin is prescribed for (some) heart patients to let their damaged hearts pump their thinned out blood more easily. It kills small rodents by thinning their blood to the point that their veins and capillaries cannot hold the blood and they literally bleed to death through their skins. A dog eating a single mouse or squirrel that has croaked from D-Con ingestion likely would not die itself. But, it could. And if the pooch ate several dosed rodents... well, is your pepper patch worth your pedigreed purp? ENJOY!!! -- Uncle Dirty Dave's Kitchens Home of Yaaaah Hoooo Aaahhh HOT Sauce & Hardin Cider
