> 1999 Scovie Award Winners > > 1999 Chile Pepper MagazineAwards Looks to me like they just give everyone an award, so why bother? If the purpose of these awards is something meaningful then at least make it look like it. Seems to me that they are one big advertisement. ( no offense to Curt, he was just reporting the "News" he didn't make the awards). There are so many categories that almost anyone can walk home with some award. I know that this may be an exaggeration but I just got my CP magazine and saw all of their awards and thought, " so what?" To see the Scovies too just seems like overkill, like adding too many chiles to a recipe just to see how hot you can make it. It no longer tastes good, but is sure is hot. "So what?" I don't know if I own any award winners because I don't bother to check (they probably all have awards "everyone gets at least one") but I don't buy them because of that. I buy for several reasons. 1. Taste: I have tasted the product somewhere 2. Description: They contain something that I like or would like to try 3. Price: if the price is really right, I'll buy it anyway (found wonderful sauces from Arriba and Grace Foods this way) I have very little habenero based products on the shelf as I really don't like them. I think habs are too hot for my taste, I don't like the flavor, and they smell bad when I cook with them. I prefer Thais, serranos, chipotles and a host of odd chiles like Czech Black and others. Well, I got that off my chest and will now done my asbestos suit to protect me from the incoming flames!
