The book on the national parks has arrived, and it's very pretty. (Wonderful blue tones in those shots, I wonder if they used AGFA film...) I'm surprised at how closely the countryside resembles the Great Lakes area. Many of those shots, including the dunes, could have been taken in southern Michigan. However the package seems to have passed through the same Office of Parcel Destruction as your printer cord - both ends of the envelope were torn completely open, and it was actually just a sleeve. The book itself is undamaged. I hope there was nothing else, that had fallen out of the package. We finally have temperatures above 70, but the weather is unpredictable. I'm watcing three completely different forecasts for the weekend. One says sun, one says thunderstorms ... and today they have snow and rain in Arizona. I put all of my plants outside, and it's nice to see the patio looking green again. My gum infection is back, exactly as it was last year. In a day it became swollen and tight under the same tooth that covered it before. I'll call Hart this morning and see if I can get another round of antibiotics. I got the Escort back from the garage yesterday, for about $330. The labor was more than $200 of that sum. The new water pump cost about $85, but I probably could have bought it for less if I had picked it up at the NAPA parts store myself. For some reason, they run a 2-tier pricing system, and I think the higher, nominal price is what appears on service bills. This morning I'll be in the office; if all goes well, I will finally be able to log on to their network. I've had continuing problems with the web-based Hotmail service. - A
