Fellow CHers, For those in the Mid-Atlantic area, I have a personal recommendation for a restaurant in Thurmont, MD, "Cozy's". (Usual disclaimers, I have no connection with the restaurant, but I think many CHers might enjoy.) 103 Frederick Road, Rt. 806 Thurmont, MD 21788 301-271-4301 cozyville@aol.com http://www.cozyvillage.com For about 18 years, Joanne & I have been going to Cozy's. They offer a great buffet (carved to order ham, roast beef & fresh oven-roasted turkey). They are is located at the foothills of the picturesque Catoctin Mountains, near the intersection of MD Rt. 15 and Rt. 77. (Between Frederick, MD and Gettysburg, PA.) Up in the mountains on the north side of the Rt. 77 is Catoctin Mt. National Park, a great place for hiking (stop in the visitor's center for a trail map), and on the south side is Cunningham Falls MD State Park (waterfalls, canoeing, picnicking). What prompts me to place this note is Cozy's recently introduced "Wall of Fire". They have a wall with about 60 foot of shelving just loaded with hot sauces, all kinds, for purchase of course. Beware, some of these are REALLY hot. (E.g. "Dave Total Insanity" and "Pure Cap", more disclaimers). Even better, they have several "TNT Caddy"s: Each has 8 bottles of hot sauce that you can try with dinner-- for free! I was like a kid in a candy store. Fun trying different sauces with the different foods: Ham: Georgia Peach and Vidalla Onion Hot Sauce 1 alarm Straight on top Beef: Bustelo's Pepper Sauce (aged in oak) 3 alarm Straight or mix with beef gravy with horseradish Turkey Dave's Total Insanity (beware) 9 alarm Bloody Mary Death Wish Cayenne Sauce (1 heaping tsp.) 5 alarm Sunday is their best deal on the buffet. Ask for a "Challenger's Card". If you have a question, or would like company at Cozy's some weekend, just send me an email. Enjoy, Andy
