BOOK REVIEW _The Pepper Lady's Pocket Pepper Primer_, by Jean Andrews, University of Texas Press, Austin, TX, 1998, 184 pp., $17.95, ISBN 0-292-70483-6. The Pepper Lady, famous for her classic _Peppers: The Domesticated Capsicums (Revised Edition,University of Texas Press, 1995), is back with still more on identifying, cooking, and generally APPRECIATING peppers. While this new book covers much of the same ground as _Peppers of the World: An Identification Guide_, by Dave DeWitt and Paul W. Bosland (Ten Speed Press; 1996; see our review in the March 1997 _HortIdeas_, page 36), it has complimentary sections on storage and cooking, and its sprightly style is guaranteed to perk you up. So, confirmed "pepper heads" will want BOTH books. It should be noted that Jean Andrews is REALLY serious about being a spokesperson for peppers; she has registered "The Pepper Lady" as a trademark! ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Reprinted with permission from the June 1998 _HortIdeas_.
