The storms damaged one of my two tomatillo plants :-(

I took the broken top and sliced it to a clean edge under running water.
Then I wet the bottom portion of the stem thoroughly and stuck it in a jar
of rooting hormone.  Following this, I put it in a glass of water and added
perlite to hold the stem stable.

Does anyone know if this will result in roots and a second chance for the
tomatillo?

Also fighting rabbits with garlic and blood meal.
