My wife and I went out for dinner last night (Sunday) about 9:00. Of course, nothing respectable was open at that hour, and we ended up at a great place whose name eludes me at the moment. Remembering the lamentation on the group over trying to come up with a good hot beer, I ordered their own 'Hot Tamale.' Allowing for the cheesiness of the name (although an improvement over the Rat Dog Bitter I had just finished), it was actually pretty good. It was an ale with jalapeno and serrano. It wasn't sharply hot, but had a good mellow burn that built a little over time. If there are any chiliheads in the Portland/Beaverton Oregon area, feel free to get ahold of me, and I will scavenge the name and address of this place.
