Last year, I grew some orange habanero in my backyard patch (Syracuse, NY) alongside some tomatoes and some peas. Like I usually do, I grew them organic, without using anything besides some three-year-old mulch (btw-this is my preferred vintage and it helps...some of my beefsteaks last year were amazing), sunlight, and water. They came out rather small even though it was a good summer climatically for them. This year my father has some old seeds of mine he's using and I'm not growing anything besides flowers, leaving my patch fallow for next summer. I know they'll grow up here, but I'd appreciate some insight into how I can get them really hot. The crop I had was just a little hotter than a good cayenne (although I dried and powdered them-what a knockout chili spice!) and I'm not sure if that had to do with the short growing season (May-early September) or what. Thanks in advance. -Dan
