[CH] OFF: collectible print numbering

Anybody out there collect fine art prints or can point me to a site that can
answer my question?  I have created a  print from a drawing of mine and I
need to number each of them.  What is the proper format for numbering a
print?  I think it is "1/500", with bottom # being the total number of
prints and top being this print out of the entire amount. 

Maybe I should do a chile print next time!  When I had chiles on my business
card, several people told me to contact restaurants about designing menus
and such.  Is there any interest in a chile print?  I saw lots of them at
the bookstalls along the Left Bank in Paris last year.
