Has anyone seen a cable television program featuring a biker chef named =
Billy (real name is Bill Hufnagle)? I just bought his new cookbook =
"Biker Billy Cooks With Fire" from Amazon and it's awesome. He says in =
the intro that every receipe except two has hot peppers as an =
ingredient. The two exceptions are "one designed to assuage your taste =
buds if you misjudge your hot-pepper prowess and the other is a simple =
sauce to put on already fiery foods" He looks like a real hoot; wish I =
got his program here! The following recipe sounds great. I can see, =
however, that many of my fire-eating list friends will double or triple =
the number of peppers called for:
Ballistic Bananas
3 Tablespoons unsalted butter; 1 Fresh Hab, stemmed, seeded and halved; =
4 ripe bananas peeled and halved lengthwise.
In a large saute pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the hab and =
saute for 1 minute. Add the bananas and saute for 2-4 minutes or until =
they begin to brown. Turn the bananas over and saute the other side. =
While the bananas are cooking, move the hab pieces around them; this =
will help make them all equally ballistic.
Discard the hab (this is obviously optional ;-)) and serve the bananas =
with whipped cream or ice cream as a counterpoint to the fire in the =
fruit.
Makes 4 servings.
Enjoy! SandyO
