Well, it is HOT here. Yet another day of triple digit temps during the day. So far all my pepper plants seem to love it. they are fruiting like mad and I have had to pick quite a few immature fruit because I was worried the plants would fall over as the fruit increased in size. I have all of them protected with tomato cages because otherwise the wind would knock them over. (it is always windy here) the habs are ripening nicely and have good heat. the Yatsafusa are also quite hot but they vary from hot to xxxhot all on the same plant. the ones at the top of the plant seem to be hotter than those near the base. The Thai Dragon are not as hot as the ones I grew last year. For a while some of the leaves were turning a bit yellow but I dosed them all with Epsom Salt and bone meal and they are now dark green and putting out much more foliage which should protect the fruit from sun scald. the sweet peppers are also doing well but the fruit is smaller than it usually is by this time. The cascabels which were late setting fruit are now blooming heavily and there are a lot of marble-sized fruit. The chiletepin are the size of peas and are alreadly beginning to trun yellow. They also are xxxxhot. I have a few "mystery" peppers which lost their identification when my garden help did not replace the stakes with the info on them when they were re-potted. Should be an adventure discovering which ones are hot and which ones are sweet. but I do like to live dangerously. -- Andie Paysinger & the PENDRAGON Basenjis,Teafer,Cheesy,Singer & Player asenji@earthlink.net So.
