Hi, I grew up in WI, and have been a Penzy family customer and friend, although not close, for over 30 years. As the business evolved and we moved to IN, it became a mail order relationship. During that time, Bill and Ruth passed the business to the children. So, in the family now are the Old World Third Street Spice House in old Downtown Milwaukee, Bill and Ruth's store in Wauwautosa and Penzy's in several locations. Bill and Ruth still offer an apprenticeship (Bill was apprenticed in the trade through his father and grandfather). People learn the fine art of handling, blending and wholesale purchasing/sourcing the highest quality spices. The apprenticesship includes philosophical studies of literature and poetry. Discussions among the apprentices and Bill and Ruth then focus on how that applies to life, spices and the culinary arts. As a result of the basic foundation, customers at any of the Penzy family operations get a level of quality, service and knowledge unavailable anywhere else. The Penzy's website: <http://www.penzys.com> You can get a catalog by download (in PDF) or request one be mailed. Be sure to visit any of the locations when in the Milwaukee area. Although there are many common items, there are also individual specialties at each store. Standard disclaimers apply.
