I think Steve is remembering a post which I made to the ChileHeads' Digest, v.4 #489, back on July 14th which has to do with the magazine format BHG cookbook. Ordering information (via snail mail or toll free phone number in U.S.) is at the bottom. Cheers, The Old Bear --------- begin reposted text --------- While standing at the check-out line at my local supermarket here in New England, I noticed what appeared to be a magazine on display among the tabloids and TV-guides. It turns out to be a magazine-format cookbook called "Simply Perfect: Hot & Spicy" published by Better Homes and Gardens' Special Interest Publications and one of a series of such books on various cooking topics like "Salads," "Baking," "Italian," etc. The magazine/book contains 137 pages with 125 recipes. The only advertising is the inside and back covers. The cover price is $4.99 and this particular volume is labeled "display until August 25" -- after which, it appears that it can be ordered from BHG for $7 (with discounts for orders of multiple titles in the series.) While some of the recipes may need a little "zapping" to please the true Chilehead, it's heartening when something like this hits the mainstream -- and possibly indicative of a gradual shift in American tastes toward the more adventuresome. I have scanned the index and reproduced it below. I'll be happy to post a few of the recipes to the list if there are any specific requests. Obligatory disclaimer: I am not affiliated in any way with the publisher, distributor, author or supermarket where I shop. This is a non-commercial posting of something which I thought would interest fellow Chileheads.
