Well, I have, sitting in front of me as I type this, a bottle of Lime Pickle, Mild in Oil, bottled in the UK(by Limeys?)made in India, sold by Hanif's International Foods Ltd. of Delta BC Canada...now that is what I call a well travelled Lime! But the flavor is superb, not enuf heat, but a little sprinkle of Calvin's or Jim's respective chile powders can set that straight...this is a very strong lime flavour, with the following content: Lime, salt, vegetable oil, mustard, fenugreek, turmeric, acetic acid, chile, asafoetida. NOTE: for ALL you vinegar lovers? out there in radio land, there aint any!! But there is a fair amount of oil, and to serve it I let the oil rise to the top of the jar(350 gr) and lift the limes out with a fork and drain it on a little paper towel. It is amazing that more chile-heads do not shop in an east Indian market,of which they are legion...well, one or two! In BC anyway, and maybe even in Oz, right Luke? Seriously, they do have some neat, hot pickles, spices, and all sorts of other stuff that chile-heads can make good use of...so check out the East Indian section of your market or venture into an East Indian store and have a look...since East Indians are mostly from India, they all speak English sorta, and will be happy to tell you what is what...and READ THE LABEL Cheers, Doug in BC, who when he aint cookin is sometimes out shoppin!
