You're absolutely correct - the actual figures that I've seen say that the
mites have taken out 90% of the wild bees, and 50% of the "domestic" bees
(those in people-maintained hives). Not a good thing at all...maybe we'll
have to all learn hand pollination to get *any* peppers...
