hi yall... Been enjoying the list a lot, learning all kinds of things. My question first and then my experience.... I have one of those small green houses 4x4 that allows you to slide open windows to work with whatever is growing and has a mister. What I would like to do is grow peppers (and tomatoes) throghout the year. (including the winter months but I figure I live in CA, in Santa Cuz, so should be able to force them to bud forth in a green house.) I was planning on ordering some seeds from Johnny's but am not sure which ones to order. I want some good for chile rellenos but also good for salsas.. What is good for greenhouses? and which heirloom varieties would work good for greenhouses? ok my experience I've planted anaheims, plabanos, thai, pimeiento, jalapenos, fresnos in the 10x4 raised bed (I do bioentenisve gardening). all are foing great.... freezing most of the peppers this won't make it hard to roast them will it? NTL , I must share this: We decided to pickle our fresnos. I had no idea how hot they were when I picked them, Evidently they are a cross between jalapenos and serannos. Anyway I picked up to 75 fresnos and sliced up hallf of them. My husband the other half. bare-handed and how do we spell D-u-m-b? I was in agony for seven straight hours, I tried all kinds of things, water, baking soda, milk, calomine, aloe (straight from the plant), "crying", no relief at all. Finally I called my doctor. He said I was sufffering from Nitric Acid burn and that it could cause pernament nerve damage. First he asked if I had any "draino" in the house. I just stuttered..."Draino? uh....we have a septic system i wouldn't ever use that in the house". Then he aske me what detergents I had in the house and I thought "um borax???" he said that was perfect. It was alkaline enought to do the job. Took three applications of a borax paste to my hands but it worked. It drew the oils out. Of course I should've warn gloves...but this *is* a solution to Hunan Hand. (And yes I did buy some surgical gloves.) Joy
