[CH] Theft

Since I have dogs and only a 4 ft fence, I have a "Fido Shock" system
which is essentially an electric fence. It gives the dogs a little
shock when they try to climb over. It also keeps unwanted "visitors"
out. I have several signs which say "danger, electrified fence". since
it was installed I do not have kids climbing into my yard to steal
apricots and plums.

I did have a problem in one section in the back where there are 2 fences
8 feet apart and the wire is on the inner fence. Two years ago I had
problems with people were climbing over into that area and picking
tomatos and beans that grow up an 8 ft trellis alongside the fence.
Since I use that area for compost, I decided to make it even better. I
scraped out a 2 ft wide trough along the base of the fence, about 6
inches deep and I lined it with plastic (so moisture would not drain
away)
I filled it with compost and then poured fish emulsion liquid fertilizer
(diluted 10 to 1) into the trough along with a generous portion of
"Garlic Barrier". So it was a nice slurry.
I then sprinkled falled leaves and grass clippings over the stuff.

I went off to work the next day and when I got home I found "evidence"
that someone had jumped over the fence and it looked like their feet
slid out from under them on the plastic and they landed in the
'stuff'. One of my neighbors told me she had seen the guy hobbling
down the street looking (and smelling) like he had fallen into a
cesspool. I went down and banged on his door and told him if he wanted
home grown produce he had better try growing his own as now I knew who
he was, if any of my stuff was missing, I would know where to look.
His wife was terribly embarassed - she said he had told her he had done
yard work in exchange for the tomatoes and beans. She then asked me if
I had any ideas about how to get the stench out of his new
Nikes......Ha! sweet revenge!
