>1. Not everyone likes red Tabasco sauce, but most people on the list have
>probably tried it. If Tabasco rates a 5, how would you rate the hottest you
>can tolerate? (Higher is hotter.)
...not real keen on Tabasco but I would say I can handle around a 9 but
don't like to push it to 9 all the time.
>2. What is the hottest pepper you routinely eat? What is your favorite
>chile?
.....hotest-habs, favorite depends on what I am using it for but love
serranos, jalapenos (mine were killer hot this year), and cayennes.
>3. How many times a week do you normally eat something you'd consider hot?
...Daily and at almost every meal of the day.
>4. How long ago did you first start eating hot stuff? How old were you?
>(Yeah, yeah, I know that I can then calculate how old you are...as if I
>care...)
....as a kid, maybe around 12 when my brothers and I would eat pickled
cherry peppers and Frank's Hot Sauce sandwiches. I am still a kid, just an
older one....
>5. What is the first hot food you remember eating?
....commercial pickled peppers and horseradish.
>6. How long ago, in hours, did you eat something hot?
....about 2 hours ago at lunch, a little mexican place in the plaza.....
>7. Approximately what percent of your hot food comes from:
> - Fresh peppers...60%
> - Dried peppers...20%
> - Sauces and salsas...15%
> - Restaurant meals...5%
> - Second-hand consumption and inhalation...not on purpose!
>
>8. Do you grow your own peppers?
...yes
>
>9. Do you cook with chiles?
...yes but limited depending if'n the younguns are eatin it too. Then I
put it on afterwards.
>10. Do you dry chiles for later consumption?
....Yes
>11. Do you make your own powders?
....I plan to for the first time this year.
>12. What is the most unusual thing you've ever done with chiles (that you
>want to talk about)?
....nothing is unusual on this list and I probably couldn't top Rael so
never mind but did I tell y'all about my tomatoe with a Bill Clinton type
growth on it....I digress......
>13. Have you "converted" people to the ways of chile? How many?
....I have 2 budding offspring chileheads, and not sure if I have converted
or just renewed interest for some........
>14. Do people consider you crazy (for more that just chiles)? Is it a good
>thing or a bad thing?
.....yeah, they always have and no I don't think it's a bad thing, probably
close to the truth anyways.......
>15. How would you describe your cultural heritage? Is it a culture which
>typically eats chiles?
....German and Czech, but like, 3rd generation at best, and living in
upstate NY.
>16. Indicate which fits best:
> - I am a radical vegan
> - I am a vegetarian
> - I tend towards vegetarianism
> - I'm an omnivore
> - I like meat and potatoes
XXXX - I didn't get to the top of the food chain for nothing
>17. Have you ever eaten something which you would consider too hot? Describe
>the case.
...When I tried Dave's Insanity Sauce, not only hot but tasted horrible.
If something tasted great but was too hot I would probably eat some anyways
and take breaks. I just tend to eat it faster somehow thinking that to
clear it and then drink is gonna help.
>18. Have you ever entered a hot substance eating contest? How did you do?
....no, but I did enter my brothers "great banana race" once but I guess
that doesn't count.......not hot but funny!
>19. Have you ever had an unusual strong reaction to eating peppers? What was
>it? If so, have you had gastrointestinal problems, such as an ulcer?
....No, not really. And no, never had an ulcer or heartburn to speak of.
If I eat a lot of peppers in a day, let's just say that it regulates the
system.
>20. Do you grow your own chiles? Lots or a little?
...Yes, and usually a 1/2 dozen of 5 or 6 types.
>21. Is your profession related to chiles? If yes, what is it?
...Well, no but I profess to be Chilehead list member and that is a
profession in and of itself, no?
>22. How long have you been on the Chile Heads list?
....Ah, I think around 3 years but I am not sure, time sure does fly.
Let's see, back then some of the regulars were the Opersteny brothers,
Rael, Dances with Carp, others.....
>23. Are you a knuckle-dragger? (If you've been on the list a short time, you
>may not understand this...)
....ah yes, tis true. Maybe not too lady-like and my Aunt Lil would be
mortified but that is the way it is!
>24. How do you spell the name of our favorite fruit?
....not really sure, grapes or cantalope maybe but my favorite nut is Robin
Williams
>25. Do you use chiles for anything other than eating? What? (rael, control
>yourself...)
...decorations, fumigation of the house, scare tatics, interesting
conversation......
>26. Where do you live?
....Upstate (near Ithaca) New York
>27. Is it hotter in the Summer or the city?
.....City, hands down but this summer is an execption. Now, did I bring my
lunch or ride the bus?
