Just got myself a Fowler's Vacola dehydrator. Not bad at all, but I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice: The airflow out the top of the machine seems to be enormously sensitive to minute adjustments of the lid. In the just-dropped-on-top position, very little air comes out, but by fiddling with it for five minutes, I can about double the airflow. This seems to be caused by the air pressure lifting the lid slightly, causing the air to come out the sides instead, which would seem to defeat the whole purpose of the natty design. Is this going to be a major effiency factor, or should I just ignore it? Great fun otherwise, next time, I'll cut crossways to prevent the chiles from rolling up and taking six times too long. :-( Making lime powder right now, (amazing smell!) and some muesli-grade proper hard dried apricots out of the squishy soaked abominations they sell these days. Also making ginger oil from some ginger I dried the other day. This is fun! jbc
