[snip happens] On topic; Just finished drying about half of the last of my jalepenos. It's getting dangerously close to frosting here, so it's time to build a small greenhouse around the plants to see if they survive the winter. I'm thinking about cutting them back (they're about 5 feet tall) and enclosing the whole planter in plastic on a simple frame. Any suggestions why I should/shouldn't? - -- "Not a shred of evidence exists in favor of the idea that life is serious." Brendan Gill http://www.geocities.com/HotSprings/4958 I just had the hortoculturalist at the local nursery try to disuade me from trying to over winter my 3 surviving pepper plants. Her rational was that they are in nature an annual plant and that the yield during the second season is never as good as the first season's yield. Can anybody on the list say if there is any truth to this statement or was she just promoting her employer's interests (i bought the plants and supplies at this place) I ignored her advice since my red hab plant has about 15 lovely green almond to walnut sized pods on it that I want to give a chance to ripen. :) The green ones have a subtle (for a hab) heat and great fruity flavor. I just hope I get to taste this one when ripe. Eat Hot Think Hot Love Hot Doug
