> Do seeds from dried chiles sprout better than seeds from fresh. Or > visa-versa. Shouldn't make much difference under proper conditions -- both should grow fine. The main issues would be whether the seeds in the dried chile have deteriorated due to excessive age, having been subjected to heat or humidity, or gotten moldy, or whether the fresh chile is fully mature. > And seeds from fresh green chiles? Green chiles are immature chiles, meaning the seeds are immature, too. Below some certain level of maturity, seeds will have reduced viability. If your green chile happens to be mature enough, even though still green in appearance, the seeds might sprout. The bottom line is, you'll be much better off to let the chile turn red (or whatever its mature coloration is supposed to be) before you harvest the seeds for planting. --- Brent
