It's been way too long since I've been to New Mexico (about 10
years) I still remember when flying from Dallas to Reno the pilot
saying we'll be flying over Las Vegas and wondering why he was
detouring 350 miles south until I realized it was the Dallas-Las
Vegas NM-Shiprock route:-)
One of the great places we visited was either Chimayo or Chamisa
where "The Milagro Beanfield War" was filmed. I picked a piece of
Cholla cactus in the graveyard where one of the headstones was a
Harley Davidson motorcycle frame. The Cholla is doing great in the
front flower bed. Purple flowers.
Have some Chimayo pepper seeds purchased in Santa Fe on that
trip. Plant a couple each year and they still germinate.
Some of our Christmas lights are still up, but the tree is about to
fall down. More wind than roots in the home of the Washoe Zephyr.
